Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish. Who doesn’t love a good list?
This week’s topic is: Top Ten Books I’ve Recently Enjoyed That Were Out of My Comfort Zone.
This one is a tough one for me because I don’t typically read books out of my comfort zone lol. I’ll try to make it to 10 but we’ll see!
1.
The Postmortal by Drew Magary
I read this book because it was our book club book of the month. I wasn’t sure how I was going to feel about it but it was quite good and really made me think.
2.
The Martian by Andy Weir
I’m not typically a sci-fi kind of gal, but this was another book club pick (I’m sensing a theme here). We picked it a few months before the movie came out and the trailer looked awesome so I gave it a shot. I loved this book!
3.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer Library Edition Volume 1 by Joss Whedon (& others)
This is a strange one for me to say because Buffy is one of my favorite TV shows of all time. I can quote almost every line to every episode. But comics were just never something that I got into until recently. I’ve read the first two library editions of season 8 and the last two are on my TBR pile as we speak!
4.
Bossypants by Tina Fey
I’m not a big memoir gal but how could I pass up Bossypants narrated by Tina Fey herself? I loved it and proceeded to listen to Yes Please by Amy Poehler and Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? By Mindy Kaling. They were all fabulous!
So… I think I’m only able to get to four for this post…. Yikes 😦 I guess it’s time to step out of my box a bit more. But I’m also the type of person who orders the same thing every time she goes to a restaurant because she knows it will be delicious and she won’t be disappointed sooo…
I will try to make an effort.
Book club high five! Bossypants is STILL the best comedy-memoir I’ve read. I feel like nothing will ever top it.
